Writing tips from the pros
From Rick:
Back in May of 2019, I did a post called “Tips from the experts” wherein I pulled out what I considered the best advice and provided a link to the full article I quoted from. Here’s the link to my previous post:
TIPS ON WRITING FROM THE EXPERTS
Recently, I was contacted by Katie Holmes from OutwitTrade.com regarding my previous post and link. Katie has compiled a wonderful compilation of advice she received from a number of authors. She told me that she keeps updating the article, and based on when she emailed me and the latest date on her article, I saw that she indeed does update it as new comments arrive.
What I like is that she gives bullet points for each tip, then provides a link that takes you to an expansion of that point further down in her post.
I perused it, and I highly recommend that you check it out. She’s clearly put a lot of work into compiling this advice.
Two points that I’m guilty of stuck out for me in particular:
—Stop aiming for perfection on your first draft.
—Avoid editing when you write. Do it after.
Not all of the suggestions will apply to every writer, but I’m sure that everyone will find at least a few valuable tips (even if you don’t have or don’t believe in writer’s block).
And you might want to bookmark and keep visiting this article as Katie adds more incoming advice.
