Indie authors, get your butts in gear!

From Rick:

This week I’m going to post something different from what I had planned in order to bring your attention to an article that is highly significant for all indie authors out there. It talks about some potentially serious issues that traditional publishers are facing, and will be facing, and how we as indie authors can take advantage of their mess.

If Kris Rusch is right, the hubris, greed, and lack of foresight of traditional publishers is going to catch up with them in ways they didn’t expect and failed to plan for. And I really hope she is right because it will open new doors for indie authors.

This article from Kris Rusch deals with what’s going on in traditional publishing and Kris’s predictions for the future. I’ve included a second article—actually from the week before (April 15)—that contains some good advice as well, but her April 22 article is a must read. You ignore it at your own peril.

Now is the perfect time to work on your books and get them out there while traditional publishers are caught with their proverbial pants down. And for those of you who were considering trying to find a traditional publisher, you should seriously reconsider that move.

Here are the articles:

ADVICE FOR WRITERS DURING THE PANDEMIC

I’ll see you all next week.
