Literary agents

Do you need an agent?

From Rick:

This being a short-post week (or an off week), I have some reading material to answer this important question and, more importantly the one of whether you should seek an agent.

To my way of thinking, Kris Rusch, in commenting on recent events in the world of agents, answers these questions more than adequately in my opinion. This is a heartbreaking tale, and it didn’t happen to a nobody of a writer. It’s the not kind of tale we would expect to hear in the literary world, certainly not to a noted writer.

If these articles don’t convince you outright that you should never try to land an agent, then re-read the articles and pay close attention to her words, especially the fact that literary agents are not in any way regulated.

Be duly warned and don’t try to convince yourself that any agent can’t or won’t be just like this one.
